Corey is a clear professional and is very transparent from all angles. He listens throughout the whole process from start to finish and helped with my lack of knowledge regarding style, fitting and fabric. Very quick turnaround time and thoughtful nuances were applied along the way. Highly recommend

Corey’s and Frank’s attention to detail is unmatched. I’ve been visiting them for over seven years to purchase suits and tuxedos and I refuse to go elsewhere.
Also, their prices are comparable to (or maybe less than) the cost of a designer suit + alternations. The only concern is that once you get a suit or tux from them, no other place will compare.

The Wedding Suit Package Guideline:
A minimum of five suits is required to qualify for the wedding experience pricing. All garments within the package must be produced in the same selected fabric to ensure consistency across the party. Remote or offsite fittings do not include alteration services unless a test garment is purchased ($150). The wedding experience must be paid in full at the time of order. Payments cannot be divided among multiple parties. To ensure a seamless process, the groom or a designated representative will coordinate fittings and scheduling for the group. These standards allow us to maintain quality, consistency, and the exceptional value offered within our wedding program.

Does H.M. Cole serve New York City?
Yes. H.M. Cole serves clients throughout New York City and the surrounding metro area, including Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Midtown, SoHo, Tribeca, Chelsea, Financial District, Williamsburg, and surrounding communities.
Can I get a custom suit if I live outside Midtown Manhattan?
Yes. Many clients travel from neighborhoods throughout New York City for a private fitting appointment. Whether you are coming from the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, SoHo, Tribeca, Chelsea, Brooklyn, Queens, Williamsburg, or another nearby area, H.M. Cole can help you build a custom suit, wedding suit, tuxedo, blazer, or dress shirt designed around your measurements.
What custom clothing services does H.M. Cole offer in New York City?
H.M. Cole offers custom suits, bespoke suits, made-to-measure suits, wedding suits, custom tuxedos, sport coats, blazers, custom pants, and custom dress shirts. Each garment is built around your measurements, style preferences, occasion, and long-term wardrobe needs.
What is the difference between bespoke and made-to-measure?
A bespoke suit is built from a pattern drafted specifically for your body. A made-to-measure suit starts from a base pattern that is adjusted to your measurements. H.M. Cole offers both options. Made-to-measure is a strong choice for many professionals and grooms, while bespoke offers a higher level of personalization, pattern work, fittings, and hand-finished detail.
How long does it take to get a custom suit in New York City?
Made-to-measure suits typically require 4 to 8 weeks from the first fitting. Bespoke suits usually require 10 to 14 weeks because of the additional pattern work, fittings, and hand-finishing involved. For weddings, formal events, or major professional milestones, we recommend beginning the process as early as possible.
Can H.M. Cole make wedding suits and tuxedos for New York City weddings?
Yes. H.M. Cole works with grooms, groomsmen, fathers of the bride, fathers of the groom, and wedding parties throughout New York City and nearby destination wedding locations. We can create custom wedding suits, tuxedos, dinner jackets, and coordinated looks for the full wedding party.
How far in advance should I order a wedding suit or tuxedo in New York City?
For a wedding suit or tuxedo, we recommend starting at least 8 weeks before the wedding date. For groomsmen groups or bespoke garments, 4 to 6 months is safer. This gives enough time for fabric selection, measurements, production, final fittings, and any needed adjustments before the event.
Can H.M. Cole help with groomsmen who live in different cities?
Yes. H.M. Cole can help coordinate wedding parties with members who live in different areas. Each person is measured individually so the final look feels coordinated without relying on standard rental sizing.
Is H.M. Cole a good option for business suits in New York City?
H.M. Cole works with executives, attorneys, founders, finance professionals, consultants, physicians, real estate professionals, business owners, and other professionals who need tailored clothing for client meetings, conferences, interviews, presentations, court appearances, board meetings, and formal professional settings. A custom suit is built around your measurements, posture, and fit preferences rather than relying on standard off-the-rack sizing.
Do you offer custom shirts, blazers, and sport coats in New York City?
Yes. H.M. Cole offers custom dress shirts, blazers, sport coats, trousers, and standalone wardrobe pieces in addition to full suits. These are popular for professionals who want polished clothing for business casual settings, client-facing roles, travel, events, dinners, and everyday wear.
What makes H.M. Cole different from buying a suit off the rack?
Off-the-rack suits are made for standard sizes and average proportions. H.M. Cole begins with your measurements, posture, shoulder shape, waist, seat, sleeve length, and fit preferences. The result is a garment designed around your frame rather than a standard suit that must be altered afterward to approximate your fit.
Can I get a custom tuxedo instead of renting one in New York City?
Yes. A custom tuxedo is built for your body and can be worn again for weddings, black-tie events, galas, formal dinners, charity events, and professional occasions. For clients who attend formal events regularly, owning a custom tuxedo can provide more long-term value than repeatedly renting one.
Does H.M. Cole work with first-time custom suit buyers in New York City?
Yes. Many H.M. Cole clients are buying custom clothing for the first time. The process is guided from beginning to end, including fabric selection, style choices, measurements, fit preferences, and final details. You do not need to know tailoring terminology before your appointment. Your clothier will help guide you through each decision.
What areas near New York City does H.M. Cole serve?
H.M. Cole serves clients throughout New York City and the surrounding metro area, including Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Midtown, SoHo, Tribeca, Chelsea, Financial District, Williamsburg, Long Island City, and surrounding communities.
Can I schedule a private custom suit fitting in New York City?
Yes. H.M. Cole offers private fitting appointments for custom suits, tuxedos, wedding clothing, shirts, sport coats, and other tailored garments. Scheduling an appointment gives your clothier time to understand your measurements, wardrobe needs, personal style, and upcoming events.
How do I schedule a custom suit fitting with H.M. Cole in New York City?
You can schedule a fitting through H.M. Cole online or contact the team directly to discuss your suit, tuxedo, wedding party, or wardrobe needs. For weddings and bespoke garments, we recommend booking early so there is enough time for consultation, production, fitting, and final adjustments.
What happens during a custom suit fitting at H.M. Cole in New York City?
Your fitting begins with a conversation about how you plan to wear the garment, your preferred fit, personal style, and any upcoming events. Your clothier then takes detailed measurements and helps you choose fabrics, construction, colors, lapels, buttons, linings, and other design details.
Can I choose the fabric, lining, buttons, lapels, and other details of my custom suit?
Yes. Custom clothing gives you control over many of the details that determine how the finished garment looks and feels. Depending on the garment, you can select fabrics, colors, patterns, lapel styles, buttons, linings, pockets, vents, trouser details, and other finishing options with guidance from your clothier.
Can H.M. Cole make a custom suit for someone who is difficult to fit off the rack?
Yes. Custom clothing can be especially helpful for clients whose proportions do not align well with standard retail sizing. Measurements can account for factors such as shoulder shape, posture, sleeve length, chest, waist, seat, and trouser proportions to create a more balanced fit.
What happens if my custom suit needs adjustments after it arrives?
Once your garment arrives, the fit can be reviewed to determine whether any final adjustments are needed. The goal is to refine the garment so the proportions, comfort, and overall silhouette work properly for your body before the process is complete.
Can H.M. Cole help me build a complete professional wardrobe in New York City?
Yes. H.M. Cole can help clients build a coordinated wardrobe rather than focusing on a single garment. Depending on your work, lifestyle, and upcoming events, your wardrobe may include suits, sport coats, blazers, trousers, custom shirts, tuxedos, and other tailored pieces designed to work together.

Custom Tailoring
Bespoke vs. Made-to-Measure Suits in New York City
Two paths to a better-fitting suit
Both bespoke and made-to-measure suits are built around your measurements, lifestyle, and personal style. For clients across New York City, the right choice comes down to the level of customization, the fitting process, construction, and how much time you have before a wedding, business event, promotion, or professional milestone.
Made-to-measure begins with an existing base pattern that is adjusted to your measurements, posture, proportions, and fit preferences. Depending on the garment, made-to-measure suits may be offered in half-canvas or full-canvas construction, along with personalized fabric, styling, and finishing options.
Bespoke (premium pricing) begins with a pattern created specifically for your body rather than modifying a standard pattern. It typically includes a more detailed fitting process, greater control over silhouette and proportions, and a higher level of hand-finishing and customization. Bespoke tailoring is often associated with full-canvas construction, though the defining difference is the individually drafted pattern and fitting process, not canvas construction alone.
For clients who are serious about bespoke tailoring in New York City, contact H.M. Cole for pricing.

The Complete Wardrobe
Build fewer pieces that do more
A strong wardrobe is not built around one suit. It is built around a system of garments that works across business, weddings, travel, dinners, weekends, and daily life.
Your H.M. Cole clothier can help you build around:
Custom suits
Sport coats
Custom dress shirts
Tailored trousers and premium denim
Shoes, belts, ties, and accessories
Knitwear and seasonal outerwear
Each piece should work with the rest of your wardrobe, making daily decisions simpler while maintaining a polished, considered appearance.
Performance & Travel
Travel, Performance, and Seasonal Clothing
Clothing that works beyond the fitting room
A garment should hold its shape through a flight, a full day of meetings, a formal dinner, and New York City's full range of seasonal conditions. H.M. Cole helps clients choose fabrics and garments based on how they will be worn, not just how they look during a fitting.
For travel and seasonal needs, consider:
Breathable custom suits for New York City's hot, humid summers, travel, and easy layering
Made-to-measure dress shirts that stay sharp through flights, commutes, and long workdays
Tailored sport coats for client meetings, dinners, evenings, and business-casual settings
Custom trousers designed for comfort, movement, and a clean silhouette
Quality leather dress shoes for regular professional wear
Merino knits and refined layers for New York City's changing spring and fall temperatures
Topcoats and cold-weather pieces cut to layer cleanly over tailored clothing through New York winters
